MEMORIAL DAY PLANTERS
WILL BE AVAILABLE
Last year we prepared a limited number of Memorial Day planters.  We will continue to introduce these collections for
customers who want to deliver a living memorial to the cemetery for the holiday weekend.

Lunch-and-Learn - April 27th

Our Lunch-and-Learn program continues to be a popular kick-off to the growing season and 2019 will be no different. On Saturday,
April 2
7th, we welcome participants to join us from 10:30-1:00 for a fun-filled day at the Prairie Pedlar. Floral demonstrations and
container planting presentations will provide all the secrets for spring planting.  Time will also be provided to allow participants to
browse through the greenhouses and make wish lists for spring. The cost is $40 per person and each participant will receive a $20 gift
certificate to be used anytime they visit the garden. The registration fee is required prior to the event to confirm meal reservations. Call
or email to reserve your spot for the day – reservations are limited.

**Please note that time changes are in place to accommodate a new county-wide program sponsored by the Sac County Hometown
Pride group that works to promote our county. They are planning a Green Thumb Tour the same weekend, April 27-28. This event will
be showcasing the garden centers, stores that sell garden supplies, and great places to stop for refreshments throughout the weekend
by encouraging shoppers to visit each vendor to take advantage of great gardening opportunities in Sac County. Some garden
centers have been asked to provide an educational presentation as well and I will be presenting a short program, “This not That”,
discussing a wide range of garden do’s and don’ts in conjunction with this event.  I have not yet received an agenda from the county
group but it is my hope that this program can occur about 1:00pm so that those attending the Lunch and Learn can listen too. But
regardless, we will use the morning for the Lunch and Learn program and serve a lunch similar to those in the past. As an added
bonus, you might enjoy traveling around the county in the afternoon to visit other greenhouse establishments participating in the
Green Thumb Tour. I will post the advertising info as it becomes available on Facebook and on my website.
Spring Open House - May 4th & 5th
We will officially welcome another growing season with our annual
Spring Open House on Saturday/Sunday, May 4th & 5th. Enjoy
Open House Specials and unadvertised savings. Come and see a
very artful array of hanging baskets, one-of-a-kind containers and
our collections of clematis, herbs, veggies and heirloom tomatoes,
annual flowers, and hard to find perennials that will make your yard
the envy of the neighborhood. For the tenth year in a row, we will
also be offering a nice variety of ‘quick turn’ flowering shrubs that
start small but develop quickly into focal points in the yard.
The sheds are filled with gifts for the garden and the gardener: garden tools, chimes, and garden decor of all kinds.  Find
recycled garden “junque” that adds whimsy and charm to the garden landscape as well as planters, wire ware, garden
iron, benches and statuary sprinkled between floral displays and walkways along the greenhouses. Eye candy in every
direction makes a visit to the Prairie Pedlar a memorable trip!
