MEMORIAL DAY PLANTERS
WILL BE AVAILABLE
Last year we prepared a limited number of Memorial Day planters.  We will continue to introduce these collections for
customers who want to deliver a living memorial to the cemetery for the holiday weekend.

Lunch-and-Learn - April 28th

Our Lunch-and-Learn program continues to be a popular kick-off to the growing season and 2018 will be no different. On Saturday,
April 28th, we welcome participants to join us from 11:00 - 2:00 for a fun-filled day at the Prairie Pedlar. Designing with Bicolors will be
the theme for the morning. More than ever, crazy-colored petal patterns of two distinct hues are making it to the top of the “Favorite”
lists.  Discussion and demonstrations will center around these trendy floral combos and dramatic color schemes. Floral demonstrations
and container planting presentations will provide all the secrets for spring planting.  After lunch we will explore the world of succulents:
how to select and plant perfect combos, how to care for them and winter them over for years of enjoyment.  Time will also be provided
to allow participants to browse through the greenhouses and make wish lists for spring. The cost is $40 per person and each
participant will receive a $20 gift certificate to be used anytime they visit the garden. The registration fee is required prior to the event
to confirm meal reservations. Call or email to reserve your spot for the day – reservations are limited.
Spring Open House - May 5th & 6th
We will officially welcome another growing season with our annual
Spring Open House on Saturday/Sunday, May 5th & 6th. Enjoy
Open House Specials and unadvertised savings. Come and see a
very artful array of hanging baskets, one-of-a-kind containers and
our collections of clematis, herbs, veggies and heirloom tomatoes,
annual flowers, and hard to find perennials that will make your yard
the envy of the neighborhood. For the tenth year in a row, we will
also be offering a nice variety of ‘quick turn’ flowering shrubs that
start small but develop quickly into focal points in the yard.
The sheds are filled with gifts for the garden and the gardener: garden tools, chimes, and garden decor of all kinds.  Find
recycled garden “junque” that adds whimsy and charm to the garden landscape as well as planters, wire ware, garden
iron, benches and statuary sprinkled between floral displays and walkways along the greenhouses. Eye candy in every
direction makes a visit to the Prairie Pedlar a memorable trip!
If there’s a landscaping project in your future, join us at 2:00pm on Saturday afternoon. Jane and Jack will review the use of shrubbery
in the landscape and highlight the pros and cons of many different varieties. We will focus on Proven Winner ColorChoice shrubs
that lend a hardiness and ease of growing to your landscape. This popular brand represents the best of the best. Sourced from all
over the world, they are tested and trailed in North America for a minimum of 5 years before being introduced to local gardeners.
Selected for prolific blooms, continuous color and multiple seasons of interest, PW ColorChoice Shrubs offer an overall superior
performance. Following the presentation, we’d be happy to assist you individually with landscape questions and plant selection. Enjoy
30% off the cost of shrubs this afternoon only!
Shrubs Beyond Yew! - June 2nd
Moonlight Garden Party - Sunday June 24th
It’s back on the calendar for 2018! Participants are invited to enjoy an enchanting garden experience under the stars as moonlight,
candles, and thousands of white lights transform the garden into a magical retreat. The Garden and Gift Shop open at 7:30 PM. Enjoy
a banquet of hors d’oeuvres while lingering in the garden and gift barn. The program begins at twilight (approximately 8:30 pm). To
change things up a bit, we’re planning a garden trivia contest – How much do you really know about the Prairie Pedlar? And what
about your horticultural knowledge? It will be fun and lively and there will be prizes too! And don’t forget to wear your dancing shoes!

Even though it's a
Sunday night, we’ll sweep off the dance floor and put on some music - feel free to stay and dance a while! Cash Bar
available. The admission for the Moonlight Garden Party is $10.00 per person. Reservations are required in advance and the group
size is limited.
