2017 Events
Last year we prepared a limited number of Memorial Day planters.  We will continue to introduce these collections for
customers who want to deliver a living memorial to the cemetery for the holiday weekend.

Lunch-and-Learn - April 29th

Our Lunch-and-Learn program continues to be a popular kick-off to the growing season and 2017 will be no different. On Saturday
April 29th, we welcome participants to join us from 11:00 - 2:00 for a fun-filled day at the Prairie Pedlar.
Color Your World will be the
theme for the day as we discuss trendy floral combos and dissect mixed containers with dramatic color schemes. Floral demonstrations
and container planting presentations will provide all the secrets for spring planting.  After lunch we will explore landscape designs that
utilize splashes of color, too, as we recommend perennial combos that guarantee continuous color in your landscape.  Time will also be
provided to allow participants to browse through the greenhouses and make wish lists for spring. The cost is $40 per person and each
participant will receive a $20 gift certificate to be used anytime they visit the garden. The registration fee is required prior to the event
to confirm meal reservations. Call or email to reserve your spot for the day – reservations are limited.
Spring Open House - May 6th & 7th
We will officially welcome another growing season with our annual
Spring Open House on Saturday/Sunday, May 6th & 7th. Enjoy
Open House Specials and unadvertised savings. Come and see a
very artful array of hanging baskets, one-of-a-kind containers and
our collections of clematis, herbs, veggies and heirloom tomatoes,
annual flowers, and hard to find perennials that will make your yard
the envy of the neighborhood. For the ninth year in a row, we will
also be offering a nice variety of ‘quick turn’ flowering shrubs that
start small but develop quickly into focal points in the yard.
Come and see what’s new in the gift shop(s). The sheds are filled with gifts for the garden and the gardener: garden
tools, chimes, and garden decor of all kinds.  Find recycled garden “junque” that adds whimsy and charm to the garden
landscape as well as planters, wire ware, garden iron, benches and statuary sprinkled between floral displays and
walkways along the greenhouses. Eye candy in every direction makes a visit to the Prairie Pedlar a memorable trip!
The 2nd annual Bridging the Gap Festival will be held at the Prairie Pedlar Gardens north of Odebolt, Iowa on Saturday June 24th.
This fundraising event serves as a Military and First Responder Appreciation Day to champion Operation Engage America (OEA), a
non-profit organization that hosts events promoting awareness for Post-Traumatic Stress and Traumatic Brain Injuries. Operation
Engage America organizes resource fairs that effectively pull together multiple resources, providing easy access, awareness, and
support for those seeking help.

This FREE public event is a festive celebration of honor and gratitude for our Veterans and First Responders. Freewill donation is
appreciated. There will be fun for the whole family including a Boot Camp for Kids, a bouncy house and inflatable slides. The young at
heart can scale a rock wall and participate in a variety of yard games that represent each branch of the military. An army of volunteers
is coming together to plan and coordinate a patriotic festival with musical entertainment, veteran and parent testimonies, an auction,
and a balloon release. Full band performance by Nashville’s Dustin Bogue, a Sac County Iowa native and a rising star in country
music will conclude the celebration from 7pm-10pm.
